The tribute to the President of the National Institute of Vine and Wine, Zafer Chaoui, held at Château Ksara, was a distinguished event marked by the presence of both official and private figures. Attendees included Patriarch Youssef Al-Absi, head of the Greek Catholic Church; Father Michel Abou Taqa, representing the Maronite Patriarch; Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani; Minister of Information Paul Mourkos; as well as current and former ministers and MPs, Bekaa Governor Kamal Abou Jaoude, bishops from various Christian denominations, representatives of the security agencies, director generals, judges, heads of municipalities, deans of faculties, clergy members, and many notable personalities.
Speakers at the ceremony included: former Minister Salim Warde, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and the Bekaa, Mr. Mounir Tiny, who presented Chaoui with the Chamber’s honorary shield; Vice President of the National Institute of Vine and Wine, Mr. Joe Asaad Touma; Chairman of the Board of the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. Michel Efram; Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Louis Lahoud; Patriarch Youssef Al-Absi; Minister of Information Paul Mourkos; and Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani, who presented Chaoui with the Ministry of Agriculture’s honorary plaque.
All speeches highlighted the important role played by the honoree in the wine industry and in other sectors where he had worked, including industry, pharmaceuticals, and banking, in addition to his position as Honorary Consul of Finland. They also praised his humanitarian contributions through the Greek Catholic Charity Association and the “Oasis of Life” project, noting that “he embodies in his person all sectors.”
